General

Option Purpose
Language Select the default language for the program and it's reports.
Sign Language Check this box if you are in a Sign Language congregation or group.
Font Size Select the default font size for the program interface.
Use A4 Paper Check this box to format the reports to be printed on A4 size paper (used in Europe).
Date format Select how you would like dates displayed on the printed Life and Ministry schedule.
24-Hour Time Check this box to use a 24-hour time format for Public Talk and Life and Ministry meeting times and for Public Witnessing times.
Start Up Screen Select the default screen the program should display at start-up
Show Start Times on Overview Check this box if you want to display the start times for each part on the program
Screen Setup Click this button to hide or unhide various schedules.
Data Wipe

Click this button to delete data from your database. This utility is useful if you move to a new congregation and need to wipe out some or all of your previous data and schedules.

Note: Use this screen only when you need to delete the data for an entire schedule. If you select Congregation Members, all other schedule will be checked since the names of the members are used on all other schedules in the program. If you confirm the delete of some or all schedules, the data will be permanently deleted.

Backup Click this button to open the Backup utility
Restore Click this button to open the Restore utility
Password Enter your password.

Personal

Option Purpose
Registered The date your copy of KHS was registered. (This field can not be edited.)
Username Enter you username (typically your email address. ex. yourname@example.com)
Country Select your country from the drop-down list.
Address Enter your home address.
Congregation Enter your local congregation name.
Mobile Enter your mobile phone number.
Home Enter your home phone number.
E-mail Enter your e-mail address.

Option Purpose
Account
  • None - Select this option if you do not have an e-mail account that will work with the program.
  • Outlook.com - Select this option if you have a Microsoft Live account or visit www.live.com to sign up for a free account.
  • Hotmail - Select this option if you have a Microsoft Live account or visit www.live.com to sign up for a free account.
  • MSN - Select this option if you have a Microsoft Live account or visit www.live.com to sign up for a free account.
  • Live - Select this option if you have a Microsoft Live account or visit www.live.com to sign up for a free account.
  • Gmail - Select this option if you have a Gmail account or visit www.gmail.com to sign up for a free account.
  • Yahoo - Select this option if you have a Yahoo account or visit www.yahoo.com to sign up for a free account.
  • Microsoft Outlook - Select this option if you use Microsoft Outlook to send and receive email.
  • SMTP - Select this option if you have a personal POP3/SMTP account with an ISP. You will need to fill in the following fields.
Your Name Enter you first and last name.
E-mail Address Enter your email address. (yourname@example.com)
Username Enter you username (typically your email address. ex. yourname@example.com)
Password Enter your password.
Port Ask your Internet Service Provider for this information.
Outgoing Mail Server Ask your Internet Service Provider for this information.
Encrypted Connection (SSL) Ask your Internet Service Provider for this information.
Send Options

CC these addresses - CC is an abbreviation for Carbon Copy. If you add email addresses to this box, a copy of all outgoing email messages will be sent to these email addresses, and the email addresses will be visible to other recipients of the message. You may list multiple email addresses separated by comma's.

BCC these addresses - Bcc is an abbreviation for Blind Carbon Copy. If you add email addresses to this box, a copy of all outgoing email messages will be sent to these email addresses, and the email addresses will NOT be visible to other recipients of the message. You may list multiple email addresses separated by comma's.

Tip: If not using Outlook, add your own email address so you have a copy of all "Sent" email.

Limit Bcc emails to Select 25, 50, or 100 from this dropdown to configure how many Bcc email addresses KHS will combine in a single outgoing email. Set this to maximum number of emails your mail provider accepts for Bcc messages before flagging your message as SPAM. Gmail accounts often require a smaller count like 25 or 50.
Test Account

Click this button to test your settings. The program will confirm if the test email could be sent.

Note: If you are testing SMTP and receive the error: "502 Command is locally disabled.", try removing the User Name field and retest. The User Name field is sometimes optional for SMTP and may remain blank if required to work with your provider.

E-mail Templates Click this button to open the E-mail Templates screen. Click Restore Default to restore the selected template to the factory settings.

Option Purpose
Life and Ministry - COBE Assignments Check this box if you care for the CBOE assignments. (This is usually cared for by the CBOE.)
Life and Ministry - LMO Assignments Check this box if you care for the LMO student assignments. (This is usually cared for by the LMO.)
Public Talk Check this box if you care for the Public Talk schedule. (This is usually cared for by the Talk Coordinator.)
Sound Check this box if you care for the sound schedule.
Cleaning Check this box if you care for the cleaning schedule.
Service Reports Check this box if you care for the monthly field service reports. (This is usually cared for by the Secretary.)
Territories Check this box if you care for the territories.
Service Groups/td> Check this box if you care for the service groups schedule.
Service Reports Check this box if you care for the monthly field service reports. (This is usually cared for by the Secretary.)

Meeting Times

Option Purpose
Midweek Meeting Select the the day of the midweek meeting using the dropdown list.
Time Select the the start time for the midweek meeting.
Weekend Meeting Click the Add button to insert the year, day, and time of the public talk. Add one entry for each year the meeting time changes. If it never changes, add one entry for the current year only.

Life and Ministry

Option Purpose
Date format Select how you would like dates displayed on the printed Life and Ministry schedule.
Usual no. of Classrooms Select the the number of classrooms that you would usually schedule.
Auto Assign Counsel Points Check this box to allow KHS to auto assign additional study numbers for the purpose of printing assignment slips. The additional study numbers are not added to the students Counsel Point list.
Include Phone Numbers on Assignment Slips Check this box to include the students phone numbers on the print S-88 slips.
Do Not Prompt Me for Student Results Check this box to disable all prompts about entering student results.

Sound

Option Purpose
Weekly Select this option to assign the same brothers for both the midweek and weekend meeting.
Per meeting Select this option to assign different brothers for the midweek and weekend meeting.
No. of Attendants in main hall Select the number of attendants (1 or 2) to be scheduled for the main hall.
Caption You can enter a custom caption (up to 20 characters) for the location of the attendant located by the Door. For example, you may prefer Lobby or Entrance.
No. of Attendants at the door Select the number of attendants (1 or 2) to be scheduled to watch the door of the Kingdom Hall. Select Do not schedule if your congregation will not be assigning attendants at or near the main entrance to the kingdom hall.
Caption You can enter a custom caption (up to 20 characters) for the location of the attendant located by the Door. For example, you may prefer Lobby or Entrance.
No. of Microphones Select the number of microphone handlers (between 1 and 4) to be scheduled.
Include video assistant Check this box to include video assistant field on the schedule.
Include platform assignments Check this box to include the Platform assignments on the schedule.

Option

Option Purpose
Auto update publisher status Check this box to automatically update the publisher status of all publishers in your database. Unchecking this box will disable automatic updating of publisher status. Note: You should enable this feature after you have entered at least six months of past reports for each publisher.
